January Mini Quilt with Wendy

When I noticed that Wendy (The Constant Quilter) had added me to her mini quilt list, I thought I had better produce!!  Long story on this one is that as you can see, Jo Morton's pattern is dated 1995 and I believe that is when I made the two stars.  Well, I either lost them or put them away (you know how that is....can't remember much any more!).  Every once in a while they would resurface and I would tell myself to finish the quilt......but didn't!  Well, now it is finished and here it is a day late.....finished the binding at 10pm last night!

I have lots of tops that need finishing and with my so-called free time due to Covid, I should be sewing!  However, I now find lots of time to read that I haven't had since I was raising kids (when they were in school!)  AND, I have a new favorite saying ........"Maybe I'll do that tomorrow".  Anyway, I am enjoying a slower life than I have had since I opened my shop 30 years ago!  Next time I go out to the shop (after pending snowstorm!), I'll find the first little quilt of Jo's that I made and add it to this post!

If the link to Wendy does not work, you'll find her on my sidebar.  Blogger has changed the way links are made from when I posted regularly and I am not sure I did it right!

  1. Wow--I was never aware of the Prairie Hands Pattern Co. That is truly vintage Jo Morton. What a sweet little finish!
Did you hand quilt that, or do you have a machine that does the "looks like hand quilting" stitch? Either way, it looks fantastic!
Reading is good--it often keeps me from the sewing machine. :)
Good to hear from you, Cyndi. My monthly mini used much of the charm pack you sent!

  2. SO Good to hear from you, Janet! Been a while! I did handquilt it even my poor arthritic hands don't operate like they used to! I'll keep at it tho because I like doing it and I like looking at it when it's done!

  4. Congratulations on 30 years as a shop owner!!! I love your little Amanda's Doll Quilt! Turned out great! I have a few of Jo's Prairie Hands Pattern Co. patterns - have I made them all - no! Someday! Love her books and her fabrics! My first Jo quilt was her broken dishes pattern - made it before she started designing her fabrics. Should go back and remake it in Jo fabric! Thanks for sharing! HUGS... and stitches

  12. Such a perfect mini! And you used one of my favorite neons! Oh how I loved that Pilgrim Roy line. Thanks to you I still have a bit in my stash. I linked you in and posted it as an update so it should work. Can't wait to come up again. Hopefully things will be a bit more settled in the Spring! Happy quilting (and reading!)
