I've owned my quilt shop since 1990, specializing in antique reproduction fabrics. Made my first quilt in 1976 which greatly reduced my sewing of clothing! Would like to find more time to SEW.......maybe when I retire? Am married to a farmer, have 3 children and 4 grandchildren who are the light of my life!!! And now there are 3 great-grandchildren and another due in January 2019!

British Textiles
Another new book! "British Textiles", a compendium of six previous publications. I have only one of them "Design for Printed Textiles in England from 1750 to 1850".....which as it turns out now that I have glanced through the big hardcover book, is my favorite time period for fabrics. The most exciting find was on page 124 of a furnishing chintz; dark ground stripe with coloured leaves, floral meander with pineapple in the alternating stripe, about 1790. I have the same fabric in the narrow stripe reproduced in the "Pemberley" line from around 2000! Now I know why it was always one of my many favorites!
I only ever had a FQ of that fabric and it is all gone. I just love it. Frustrating part is it was before my repro phase and the quilt it is in is a leaf quilt not a repro quilt. Book sounds wonderful Enjoy :-) Cheers Lynne
I have enjoyed catching up on your blog today! So sorry to say that I went all the way back to Dec. where the squash/gourd was in your garden. :( I must do better about gettting around to see you! I love your blog! These books look wonderful! I have enjoyed going through all the many fabrics I got from you. Still getting my new sewing room set up. I love all of your work. Had never heard of the distress it product. I do tea stains a LOT, for things being too white. Will have to look at this product in the future. Lovely old quilts you have too! So happy they found their way to YOU.... You insprie me. XO
Lucky you to have the reproduction stripe! The books like a must have, and I was trying to resist!

Love that fabric, Cyndi, especially the floral meander with pineapple!
ReplyDeleteSorry to say the pineapple portion of the stripe was not reproduced......only the colorful leaves seen at the right of the photo!
