I have a very small collection of antique quilts and this is one of my best.....c.1840 Hexagon quilt that is very large! 114" x 128". Wide chintz border. Thought at one time I would count and photo each and every hexagon but haven't done that yet! The workmanship on this quilt is so fine that at first glance, the English Piecing is not apparent! Only close inspection reveals the TINY overcast stitches that attach each hexagon to its neighbor!

Wow - what a treasure! I bet you could spend hours just looking at all of the different fabrics.
ReplyDeleteCyndi,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great quilt! A stunning collection of fabrics and the chintz looks devine. Is it twill bound or knife edge?
I bought two copies of the book - it's worth sharing with a friend.
Thanks for showing your quilt.

ReplyDeleteHi Cyndi!
ReplyDeleteThat is a gorgeous quilt.
I just got into making hexagons myself and I love it.
Let's make some together at the quilt show this year!

Wowie zowie! That is a fabulous quilt, Cyndi. My strong affinity for hexagons hasn't diminished, so this quilt is right up my alley. The fabrics are grand. Thanks for posting all the photos.
ReplyDeleteLove it, I went last year to the IQSC and thought it was just an amazing place. We got to go behind closed doors and see some Baltimore Quilts up close as well as the storage facilities of the large quilt collections.

ReplyDeleteI was up on St Simons this wkd for a retreat, went to Connie's. :)
What a lovely quilt!
ReplyDeleteI have this book and agree that it is very worthwhile. Hexagons should come with a warning that they can be very addictive.
