Quilt Study Day at Judy's!!

We were a group of seven at Judy's house in Belfast for a day of quilt study!!  Always a pleasure and always learn/see something New!  Sue had bought an 1830-40 Hexagon (with earlier fabrics too!) quilt that we studied and photographed.  Take a looksee at these marvelous old fabrics!  Would they ever make a great fabric line!?!?!? 
Next month we plan to compare this one with one I have from about the same time period.



























 I remember that my Hexagon quilt had quite a bit of small green check!

    It's amazing how great these fabrics look for being from the 1830-1840s! Don't you wonder about the woman/women who made this, and how many hands have touched it, and how many and who have laid under it? Such a wonderful piece of tangible history.

    Thank you for those wonderful close-up photos. Almost feels like I could reach out and touch! I so appreciate your interest in - and sharing of these antique quilts. I find it amazing how those bright blues have kept their color all these years.
